Matheson launches 2025 Tim Scanlon bursary

Matheson has launched its 2025 Tim Scanlon Corporate Law Bursary, which honours the late Matheson partner and former chair.

Established since 2022, the bursary is open to undergraduate and postgraduate law students.

The recipient will get:

  • Bursary of €5,000,
  • Internship in Matheson’s corporate department, and
  • In recognition of Tim’s passion for the arts, a piece of Irish art or craft in lieu of a bursary award trophy.

Commenting, managing partner Michael Jackson said: “This bursary honours our late colleague and friend, Tim Scanlon.

Mentor

“Tim was regarded as a pre-eminent lawyer, who was a mentor to his colleagues, and had a passion for driving innovative change in the legal sector.

“We are proud to honour Tim’s legacy through this bursary, which provides students with the opportunity to combine their academic knowledge together with creative thinking.”

Applicants must submit an essay of 1,200 words and must be based in a third-level institution on the island of Ireland.

Submissions should be emailed to corporate.bursary@matheson.com by Friday 28 March.
