Solicitor appointed as Revenue Commissioner

The Taoiseach Micheál Martin has appointed solicitor Maura Kiely as a Revenue Commissioner.

Kiely, who was appointed Revenue’s solicitor in 2021, succeeds Gerry Harrahill, who recently retired from the Revenue board.

In her previous role in Revenue, she was responsible for providing comprehensive legal support services for the tax authority – including in the conduct of litigation and appeals, and in the prosecution of criminal offences.

Kiely, who has more than 20 years’ experience as a practising solicitor, joined Revenue in 2017 from the Central Bank.

Before her role in the Central Bank, she was a partner in private practice, specialising in criminal law.
