Solicitor Ciarán Mulholland goes on IBA committee
Solicitor Ciarán Mulholland has been appointed to the criminal-law committee of the International Bar Association (IBA).
Mulholland is founder and principal solicitor of Dundalk-based MulhollandLAW, which specialises in criminal and civil litigation.
The IBA is the world's leading organisation of international legal practitioners, bar associations, and law societies.
Belfast-born Mulholland is dual-qualified in both jurisdictions on the island of Ireland and has extensive experience in criminal defence, civil litigation, extradition, and regulatory matters.
He was one of the first Irish solicitors to participate in the ‘SUPRALAT Project’, dealing with strengthening suspects rights in garda interviews, delivered by the Law Society in conjunction with Maastricht University.
Data protection
He also specialises in data-protection practice and has a certificate in mediation.
Mulholland helped the Law Society to integrate regulatory crime into the criminal litigation Professional Practice Course (PPC) and continues to tutor at Blackhall Place.
He is also a Gaeilgeoir and a GAA enthusiast.
On his IBA appointment, he said that “the rule of law, separation of powers and the promotion of international and humanitarian law must always be upheld.
“All lawyers must work for impartial global justice with independent due process”, he added.
Mulholland will attend the IBA’s annual crime conference in Chile this April.
