Weather hits courts in southern region

Severe weather conditions will continue to disrupt court activity in some areas of the country this week, according to the Courts Service.

Courts in the southern region have been most affected, with court sittings scheduled for Thurles today (7 January) and tomorrow (8 January) cancelled.

Custody cases are adjourned to 9 January and all other cases adjourned to 21 January. The Nenagh court office will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Family Law District Court in Newcastle West, Co Limerick, scheduled for Thursday 9 January has been cancelled.

All matters have been adjourned to Newcastle West on Thursday 23 January.

‘Resources curtailed’

Court sittings in Mallow and Clonmel have been delayed until 12 noon today.

The Courts Service has warned that office resources in the southern region may be curtailed due to staff being unable to attend the office. It says that practitioners should e-mail queries to the relevant office e-mail accounts for local information, if required.

Elsewhere, Carlow Court Office is closed to the public today. The court that was scheduled to take place today will now take place on Wednesday 8 January.

The Courts Service says that further updates will be posted on its website
