IBA seeks nominations for prestigious awards
The International Bar Association (IBA) is currently accepting nominations for three prestigious awards – the IBA Award for Outstanding Contribution by a Legal Practitioner to Human Rights, the IBA Pro Bono Award, and the IBA Outstanding Young Lawyer Award.
These awards celebrate lawyers who have made significant contributions in their respective fields, and the winners will be recognized at the IBA annual conference in Toronto, Canada, from 2-7 November this year.
Nominations
The awards are open to all lawyers, whether IBA members or non-members.
Awardees will get free registration for the 2025 IBA annual conference in Toronto as well as a contribution toward accommodation and travel costs.
Also in the prize is one year of free IBA general membership and free membership for relevant committees based on the award category (Human Rights Law, Pro Bono, or Young Lawyers).
Wajiha Ahmed and Shirley Pouget of the IBA Human Rights Law Committee emphasize that the award not only acknowledges past courage but also calls for continued efforts to fight for dignity, justice, and equality.
Lasting impact
Flavia Regina de Souza Oliveira and Arturo Banegas Masiá of the IBA Pro Bono Committee encourage nominations for those who have made a lasting impact on society by advocating for underserved and marginalised communities.
Bruno Oliveira Maggi and Zeina Obeid of the IBA Young Lawyers’ Committee stress the importance of acknowledging the talent, dedication, and impact of young legal professionals shaping the future of the profession.
The nomination deadline is Friday, 30 May. For further queries or to submit a nomination, contact Emily Griffin-Saunders at emily.griffin-saunders@int-bar.org.
Shortlisted nominees will be contacted via email.
