Pinsent Masons advises on Azets Ireland deal

Pinsent Masons has advised Azets Ireland on its merger with Cooney Carey, combining two of Ireland’s leading accountancy, tax, and business-advisory firms.

Azets, which is backed by private equity funds PAI Partners and HG Capital, entered the Irish market in 2023 and is one of the country’s fastest-growing professional services firms, providing a range of services including audit, due diligence, valuation, M&A, tax, restructuring, corporate governance, and fund management.

Cooney Carey is an independent chartered accountancy, taxation, and business-advisory practice based in Dublin.

This is Azets’ second merger since it entered the Irish market.

Pinsent Masons also advised Azets Ireland on its previous deal, a merger with industry-leading business PKF O’Connor Leddy & Holmes in 2024.

Doubled in size

Azets has doubled the size of its Irish practice in the last two years.

The Pinsent Masons Ireland team was led by corporate partner Gerry Beausang and associate Maeve O’Brien.

Gerry Beausang commented: “Private-equity-backed deal activity is driving strategic expansion in key sectors in Ireland, including accountancy, and we are advising clients as they innovate in these market conditions.”

Cooney Carey will rebrand as Azets Ireland on completion of the deal.
