Maynooth University’s School of Law and Criminology has opened a new Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence, entitled ‘Realising European values through European law’ (REVEL).
After a competitive process, the centre, led by Prof Tobias Lock, will receive €100,000 in funding from the European Union over a three-year period starting on 1 November.
The funding will support what the university describes as “an ambitious programme of research and knowledge exchange” exploring the realisation of the values of the union through EU law.
REVEL director Prof Lock described the award as “a fantastic recognition of the hard work of so many at the school and wider university in building our capacity in EU law”.
REVEL focuses on constructive approaches to strengthening EU values through law, exploring the EU digital framework, strategic litigation and advocacy, substantive equality, the rule of law, and interactions with the Council of Europe.
