ES integrates Ireland into global business

Eversheds Sutherland (International) has integrated its Ireland practice into its international business.

Effective from 15 September, the practice in Ireland will see an initial 26 partners and 170 colleagues join the international firm as a financially integrated practice with offices in Dublin and Belfast.

The Dublin office has been a member of the firm’s Europe business for over 20 years.

Managing partner Pamela O’Neill will lead the firm’s operations in Dublin, while senior office partner Gareth Planck heads the Belfast office

Commitment

A statement today (9 September) said that the strategic move reinforced Eversheds Sutherland’s commitment to Ireland as a key jurisdiction.

Global co-chief executive Keith Froud said: “I am delighted to welcome our new partners and the wider team in Ireland to Eversheds Sutherland International.

"With a full-service offering across the offices in Dublin and Belfast, we are one of the only leading global law firms with such capabilities in this important market.

“Opportunities for our clients in Ireland are considerable, and today’s announcement is a significant step in our long-term plans.

"We wanted an ambitious, like-minded team of the highest quality, and that is exactly what we have achieved. I am confident that we will now be able to move our strategic goals for our Irish business forward at pace.”

Ambitious

Europe managing partner Alexander Niethammer said that financial-services clients with operations and investments in Ireland could take advantage of access to EU markets, with Ireland the only English-speaking common-law jurisdiction in the EU.

Pamela O’Neill said that she was very excited about the new venture. “I very much look forward to working with my colleagues in the firm and with our clients also,” she said.

Gareth Planck said that they looked forward to growing together as one firm.

Key sectors for the new operations will be financial services, TMT, life sciences, energy, and industrials

The Dublin office will continue to be at Earlsfort Terrace, and the Belfast office will continue to be at Montgomery House, Montgomery Street, Belfast.
