LSRA appoints Niamh Muldoon chief executive

The Legal Services Regulatory Authority (LSRA) has announced the appointment of Niamh Muldoon as its new chief executive officer.

Niamh Muldoon will take up the role on Monday, 23 March.

The LSRA is an independent statutory body established under the Legal Services Regulation Act 2015.

Standards

It regulates the provision of legal services by barristers and solicitors and works to maintain and improve standards in the public interest.

Since its establishment ten years ago, the LSRA has introduced new business models such as limited liability partnerships and legal partnerships.

Muldoon joins the LSRA from the Veterinary Council of Ireland, where she served as chief executive and registrar since 2019.

She previously held senior roles at the Medical Council and began her career as a solicitor in private practice. She succeeds Dr Brian Doherty, who left the LSRA in September 2025 to take up the post of Deputy Police Ombudsman in Fiosrú.
