Predatory marriage cases now at two per month

Predatory marriage is far more common than previously suspected, the England and Wales Gazette reports.

This is where an elderly or vulnerable person is coerced or manipulated into marriage, by someone who then inherits their estate after death.

Abolishing provision

Britian’s Law Commission recently suggested abolishing the provision that a will is automatically revoked upon marriage.

A total of 98 suspected cases were reported by 176 solicitor firms contacted by the BBC.

Predatory Marriage UK told the commission it was contacted by two families per month.
