Dublin County Registrar family law update

Family law case-progression hearings before the Dublin County Registrar will now be dealt with in staggered lists on Thursdays, and some Wednesdays and Fridays, during Michaelmas term.

Once the adjourned case-progression hearings are relisted, summons for case-progression hearings will issue in due course.

County Registrar family law motions and lists to fix dates will resume, with dates allocated during the legal term.

COVID-19 arrangements

Arrangements are in place to ensure compliance with COVID-19 distancing requirements, and practitioners are asked for their continued co-operation.

Court should only be attended at the scheduled time, as no waiting facilities are available.

Only one representative for each party should attend court (unless directions are made otherwise), and this person must be able to deal with the matter.

All parties must leave court and take all belongings at the expiry of their allotted time.

All affidavits and exhibits, and all documents for the hearing must be exchanged between the parties, and an indexed and paginated book of such documents filed in the Circuit Court family law office, not later than 72 hours before the hearing.

When filing documents for upcoming court attendance, solicitors should ensure that the correct record number, and date and time of the hearing, are attached.

Where the respondent to a hearing is a lay litigant, the moving party must inform the lay litigant of the date and time.

Motions will not be transferred to the judge's list for hearing on the same day.
