Law Society managers’ skills programme on offer

The Law Society, in partnership with Skillnet, will be running a new managers’ skills programme starting this spring, comprising a suite of skills workshops.

The sessions are open to all who manage other staff within the legal-services sector.

New challenges

The programme addresses the need for new skills to manage staff working in changed working environments, with new challenges, evolving client expectations and evolving operational management structures.

The programme workshops are:

  • Personal effectiveness workshop (organisational skills) – 24 February,
  • Understanding unconscious bias – 24 March,
  • Dealing with difficult clients/members of the public – 14 April,
  • Project management – 20 April,
  • Communication skills – 19 May,
  • Business acumen and finance – 25 May,
  • Proofreading workshop – 30 June,
  • Building emotional resilience – 11 August,
  • Handling critical conversations for managers – 28 September,
  • Presentation skills – 6 October,
  • nfluencing and persuasive business writing skills - 10 November.

All workshops are stand-alone, and participants can pick-and-mix those of most relevance to them.

Numbers are strictly limited to ensure high-level learning and maximum engagement with the expert trainers.
