Matheson names first female chair

Tara Doyle (pictured) has become the first woman to be appointed chair of Irish law firm Matheson.

Elected to the Council of the Law Society of Ireland in November, she currently heads Matheson’s asset management and investment funds department.

She will continue her day-to-day practice alongside her new role.

Important milestone

Announcing the appointment, Matheson’s managing partner Michael Jackson said Tara Doyle had been recognised by peers and by legal journals as one of the leading financial services lawyers in Europe and one of Europe’s leading female lawyers.

“Her appointment represents an important milestone for the firm and a significant personal achievement for Tara.” he added.

Tara Doyle said she was honoured to be the first female chair of Matheson. She joined the firm in 1994 as a trainee solicitor, and has been a partner since 2002.
