Revenue extends pay and file deadline

Revenue has extended the deadline for people who file their tax return online through its Revenue Online Service (ROS) system.

The new deadline is Thursday 10 December, four weeks later than the previous date of 12 November.

Gifts and inheritances

The extension applies to customers who file their 2019 self-assessed income tax return and pay preliminary tax for 2020, and any balance due from 2019, through ROS.

Revenue has also extended the due date for beneficiaries who received gifts or inheritances with valuation dates in the year ended 31 August, 2020.

Such beneficiaries now have until 10 December to make a Capital Acquisitions Tax (CAT) return and the appropriate payment through ROS.

For those not using ROS to pay and file, the relevant return and payment is due no later than 31 October.
