Solicitor Cahir O’Higgins was charged at the weekend with assault causing harm to a former work colleague.
Cahir O’Higgins was brought before District Court 2 in the Dublin 7 Criminal Courts of Justice, charged with section 3 assault causing harm under the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act.
Ms Justice Patricia McNamara began by clearing the courtroom, as she said there were too many people, in breach of the public-health regulations.
O'Higgins was represented by his solicitor Donal Quigley.
A detective garda told the court that O’Higgins was arrested at 3.56am on Saturday and charged at 4.08am, and did not make any response when charged.
The alleged offence against Stephen O’Mahony allegedly took place on Wolfe Tone Quay in Dublin 7, last Thursday, 18 February.
O’Higgins was granted bail on a bond of €300 and a hearing was set for 19 April.
It is understood that Stephen O’Mahony worked at Cahir O’Higgins’ criminal law practice before setting up his own firm in 2020.
