Suite of topical talks for small practices

Practitioners are asked to note the upcoming Law Society Small Practice Information Sessions for 2021.

The sessions will cover firm finances, case management, and much more.

Supporting and connecting colleagues

These web-based sessions have been produced by the Law Society’s Small Practice Support Services team, and run for an average of 30 minutes, including a Q&A session.

Attendance is free, but participants must register in advance.

Firm finances

On 13 January, the topic will be Legal Firm Finances with Michael O Scathaill from Crowe.

The agenda includes:

  • Setting financial goals for 2021,
  • Improving profitability,
  • Cash-flow management,
  • Accounting tips for lawyers.

Case-management systems

On 20 January, the topic is Review of Client Case-management Systems with Michael Monahan from the Law Society’s Technology Committee.

The agenda includes:

  • Why use a case-management system?
  • What to think of when assessing or changing a case-management system.

Merging or retiring?

On 27 January, the topic is Merging or Retiring from Practice with Michael O Scathaill from Crowe.

The agenda includes:

  • What do you need to consider?
  • Tax Implications.

Marketing tips

On 3 February, the topic is Legal Firm Marketing Tips with Clare Fanner from the Marketing Club.

The agenda includes:

  • Setting marketing goals,
  • What do law firm clients really need and expect?
  • Tips and tools available.

The paperless office

On 10 February, the agenda is Developing a Paperless Office with Gerard Groarke from the Paperless Academy who will cover:

  • Strategic prioritisation (the 80/20 principle),
  • Systems – creating, documenting, and automating,
  • Outsourcing.
