The Court Proceedings (Delays) Act 2024 creates a statutory right to the conclusion of proceedings within a reasonable time. It provides for the establishment of an independent assessment process, under the aegis of the Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration to assess applicant claims for breach of the right to the conclusion of proceedings within a reasonable time.

Assessments will be carried out by either a Court Delays Assessor or the Chief Court Delays Assessor, who will be appointed by the Minister for Justice, Home Affairs and Migration.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates who possess the relevant expertise and experience for the role of Court Delays Assessor. This is an excellent opportunity for successful candidates to work in conjunction with the Chief Court Delays Assessor in relation to the provisions of the Act.
