The European institutions are seeking Lawyer-Linguists in eight languages, including English. A candidate may apply for only one of them. Lawyer-linguists provide procedural, drafting, and legal advice to proposals for legislative acts and check the legal and linguistic consistency of legislative texts across different languages.

Lawyer-Linguists are likely to have frequent contact with various participants in the legislative process, including, for example, technical experts on issues related to the environment and climate change. In this way, they get to work on some of the EU’s most pressing legislation, which will directly impact the lives of almost 450 million people. 

To apply you must meet the following criteria:

- Nationality - Be a national of one of the EU Member States and enjoy full rights as a citizen;

- Language knowledge - have knowledge of at least three of the 24 official EU languages;

- Level of education - have a level of education corresponding to completed university studies attested by an academic degree and be a qualified legal professional;

- Experience – at least two years post-qualification experience.
