Applications are invited for the position of Course Administrator in the Law Society Professional Training Section for a one-year fixed term contract. This role would suit an enthusiastic candidate who has a high level of administration skills, customer service skills and strong IT skills. Due to the nature of the work, the Law Society Professional Training section demands an ability to work well under pressure, good time management and organisational skills and a willingness to work flexible hours (occasional evening work will be required).
At least two years administrative experience is required. Experience in a legal practice, education or legal education would be an advantage but not a requirement. Experience in event management would also be an advantage. The job will also require general administrative duties as may be assigned from time to time in relation to all aspects of course delivery. The successful applicant will also deal with enquiries from members of the profession and public regarding courses and events and assist with recruitment and enquiries from lecturers. Experience with accounts management, Moodle and Zoom would be an advantage.
Contract duration
1-year fixed term contract. Hybrid working – three days onsite required.
Main duties & key responsibilities
The successful candidate will carry out the following duties in line with the Society’s standards and strategic objectives as directed by the Acting Head of Law Society Professional Training:
Day to day administration relating to professional training courses and events including:
- Assisting with recruitment and running of online and onsite courses
- Preparing and processing course materials, including eBooks Liaising with qualified solicitors, lecturers and training consultants
- Uploading and organising documents on content management systems
- Dealing with a large volume of enquiries (via email and phone) from solicitors regarding training events
- Assisting with the production of marketing and communications collateral to include eshots, brochures and other IT and hard copy tools
- Manage course data on database systems L
- iaise with the IT department regarding issues relating to course delivery
- Assist with the course assessments
- Processing payments from registrants for training courses and events
- Accounts administration
- Processing payments for lecturers and training consultants
- Co-ordinating premises and equipment for training events
- Credit control
- Responsibility for running zoom webinars, Moodle based courses and liaising with outside contractors regarding online on demand courses
- Administration of in person training taking place outside Dublin
- Providing administrative support for the professional training executives
- Ad hoc projects as they arise

- Diplomatic and professional communication skills
- Excellent IT skills including IT technology communications skills
- A proactive approach with a can-do-attitude to work
- Good telephone manner and experience of dealing with a large volume of enquiries over the phone
- Methodical, flexible and capable of undertaking multitask driven work
- Experience of conference or education course administration and an aptitude for accounts would be an advantage
- A flexible approach to working as occasional late evenings, working lunches, weekends and travel with in Ireland are required
- Education third level qualification or equivalent (preferred)
