Law Society congratulates three solicitors granted Patents of Precedence
The Law Society of Ireland congratulates three solicitors who were granted the Patents of Precedence on Tuesday 30 May 2023.
President of the Law Society Maura Derivan, said, “We are delighted to congratulate our three solicitor colleagues granted Patents of Precedence this year, including Past President of the Law Society Michele O’Boyle.”
“Each solicitor granted the Patents of Precedence has achieved, and demonstrated, the necessary experience, skills and legal expertise to become Senior Counsel.
“Solicitors are at the front line of our justice system, assisting clients, working to improve access to justice and to ensure effective administration of justice, for the betterment of society and in the public interest.
The three solicitors granted Patents of Precedence are:
- Philip Andrews, McCann FitzGerald LLP
- Michele O’Boyle, O’Boyle Solicitors
- Jennifer O’Brien, Irish Family Law Chambers

2023 marks the fourth time that solicitors could apply for Patents of Precedence. These three solicitors join a growing cohort of solicitors who have been granted the Patents of Precedence since 2020.
