Organised by the Law Society Human Rights Committee in partnership with Family Carers Ireland, the 16th Annual Human Rights Conference is taking place this Saturday 20 October at the Law Society, Blackhall Place.
Journalists are invited to attend this event.
The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Capacity in Ireland: challenges in balancing rights and practical realities’. The conference aims to bring together legal practitioners, people with disabilities, family carers, members of the public and more to explore issues around capacity in Ireland.
The aim of the conference is to critically explore the legal framework around capacity and the impact that the Assisted Decision Making (Capacity) Act 2015 has on all those it affects, including the rights and responsibilities for all parties involved.
In attendance will be John Dunne, CEO of Family Carers Ireland, Dr Éilionoir Flynn, Deputy Director of the Centre for Disability Law and Policy, NUI Galway and Aine Flynn, Director of the Decision Support Service, Mental Health Commission.
