Alert: Phishing email purporting to be from the Law Society
Warning on recent phishing email.
Dear colleague,
As you know, firms have experienced an increase in both the volume and sophistication of attempted cyber attacks over recent years.
Earlier today, members may have received an email purporting to be from the Law Society, inviting them to download a document and/or provide personal information. A copy of this email is available in the image below.

Fortunately, the email is demonstrably not from our email domain (lawsociety.ie), and the Law Society's IT team can confirm that our own systems have not been compromised.
Nevertheless, I am writing to confirm that the email above was not sent by the Law Society. Members should delete it without delay. If they clicked on a link or downloaded any document, they should contact their IT providers immediately.
Every solicitor has a responsibility to protect their clients' privacy and funds. Cybersecurity awareness and following best practice is fundamental to that. The Society is committed to support members with information and education in this area. You can find several useful resources, case studies and more on the Law Society website.
Kind regards,
Michelle Ní Longáin,
President
