Law Society Skillnet Steering Committee
The Law Society Skillnet Steering Committee is comprised of representatives from member companies and reflects the profile of law firms throughout Ireland as a whole. It plays an essential role in providing strategic direction and governance to Law Society Skillnet*.
The Committee meets with the teams running the Professional Practice Course as well as those providing Diplomas, Certificates and Continuing Professional Development. It reviews curricula to ensure that the courses offered at every level are at the highest possible standard. The purpose of the Steering Committee is to:
- Guide the strategic direction of the Law Society Skillnet and ensure that it addresses the key (current and future) workforce development needs of industry.
- Ensure that Law Society Skillnet addresses the core objectives of member companies including innovation, productivity, revenue generation, cost management and talent development.
- Ensure that Law Society Skillnet creates collaborative initiatives on behalf of industry, which represent an innovative application of Skillnet Ireland funding.
- Ensure that Law Society Skillnet is aligned to the strategy of Skillnet Ireland as well as relevant sectoral, regional and national policy.
- Ensure that Law Society Skillnet is appropriately governed in accordance with relevant laws, regulations and best practice.
- Provide appropriate oversight of planning, performance and decision making such as budgeting and financial reporting; procurement decisions; review of key performance indicators and targets.
- Provide guidance to the Law Society Skillnet Network Manager and promote the Network within the sector or region.
- Periodically review governance structures and composition, to ensure the continued effectiveness of the Steering Committee

The committee membership encompasses solicitors from firms of all sizes and the Law Society as well as academics.
