SO Fine Art Editions and the Law Society of Ireland are pleased to announce the launch of a new exciting art exhibition: COLLISION - SO Fine Art pops up at Blackhall Place, featuring new artwork from largely young, up-and-coming artists based in Ireland, all displayed in the unique setting of the Law Society’s Blackhall Place headquarters.
The exhibition includes a fresh and lively mix of artistic styles and disciplines, from print to paint, sculpture to photography. Artists include Neil Dunne, Niamh Flanagan and Yoko Akino. It has been curated by Catherine O’Riordan from So Fine Art Editions.
“I wanted to ensure that different forms of visual art were represented in this exhibition, in order to highlight the depth of talent and skill of our young artists in Ireland,” said Catherine.
“I am seeking to create a vibrant mix of artworks to include photography, fine art print works on paper, paints and sculpture. Our vision is to introduce to an audience a diverse and dynamic range of work created by a new generation of talented artists.”
“Many of these artists are recent graduates from the National College of Art and Design (NCAD) and each individual work has its own story to tell.”
“Ireland has a plethora of talented artists who often find it difficult to show their work and I was delighted to see the Law Society of Ireland embrace the arts in such a positive fashion. There is a long history of law firms supporting established artists, but to give this exposure to those at the outset of their careers is a truly remarkable opportunity.”
All works featured in the exhibition are for sale, starting from €240 (framed).
TP Kennedy, Director of Education at the Law Society, was one of the key drivers in bringing the exhibition to Blackhall Place.
“Blackhall Place is a vibrant educational setting in an historic location. The youth, enthusiasm and vibrancy brought to these buildings by the hundreds of trainees who pass through our doors every year creates a life beyond the law,” said TP.
“And it is this angle of youth, and this collision of professions, that makes this a special exhibition. These artists are starting out in their chosen careers, as are our trainees. We see the synergy between peers, heading down different paths in life, but appreciating each other’s skills and talents.”
“Many thousands of students, solicitors and other professionals will admire this artwork throughout the year, and we have also allocated public access times to share the exhibition with the wider community.”
The exhibition launches on Thursday 16 November from 6.30pm – 8.30pm and will be open to the public on every second Wednesday and Saturday until Christmas.
