Organised by Law Society Skillnet in association with Mayo Solicitors' Bar Association, the Connaught Solicitors' Symposium 2022 is the eighth in this year’s series of specialised training events designed to support local solicitors in communities throughout Ireland to upskill on topics related to legal practice.

Upskilling for clients

Solicitor Marc Loftus of Bourke Carrigg & Loftus is President of the Mayo Solicitors’ Bar Association and attended the annual event. He said, “We are delighted to celebrate the Connaught Solicitors' Symposium in Castlebar this year.”

Buying or selling property

The Connaught Solicitors' Symposium 2022 discussed conveyancing and registration tips to ensure that local solicitors are providing their clients with the best advice when it comes to their next property transaction.

“Buying or selling a home is one of the biggest financial decisions a person can make in their life,” explained Mr Loftus. “Mistakes made in the buying or selling process can cause significant delays and have long-lasting financial consequences,” said Mr Loftus.

Wellbeing

In addition to upskilling for clients’ needs, the Connaught Solicitors' Symposium offered a welcome opportunity for Mayo solicitors to check in on their personal wellbeing.

“Like many working professionals across the country, solicitors can find themselves in challenging work situations including dealing with often sensitive matters,” said Mr Loftus. 

“Emphasising the importance of wellbeing and dignity at work, the Connaught Solicitors' Symposium 2022 focused on developing practical skills, so we are better equipped to look after our personal wellbeing. In turn, this will help solicitors to better meet the needs of our clients and local communities.”
