Winners announced at 27th annual Justice Media Awards
The District Court, Disclosures Tribunal and the Belfast rape trial among the key topics across a record-breaking 236 entries
The Law Society of Ireland has this afternoon (Thursday 21 June 2018) announced the winners of the annual Justice Media Awards, the longest continuously-running media awards in the country.
The top prize was awarded to RTÉ Investigates Law and Disorder, an exceptionally in-depth examination of the District Court across Ireland.
120 of Ireland’s leading journalists gathered at the Law Society of Ireland’s historic headquarters at Blackhall Place, Dublin 7, with 36 awards and merits presented to the deserving winners.
“The Justice Media Awards are the pride of the Law Society and we believe it is more important than ever to recognise and reward excellence in legal journalism,” said President of the Law Society of Ireland Michael Quinlan.
“Some of the most high profile and controversial news stories over the past year have been directly related to the law. Journalism that promotes a greater public understanding of the law, the legal system and specific legal issues is of immeasurable value and this year’s awards recognise some fine examples.”
