AML training for your team
03/03/2025 16:56:54A free Anti-Money Laundering (AML) talk for non-solicitors in a law firm is now available.
Free training for non-solicitors
As part of a recent Certificate in Legal Skills for Legal Secretaries, Law Society executive Simon Treanor delivered a presentation on AML, which looked at the risks involved for law firms and the role that support staff play in assisting their solicitor employer(s) with AML compliance. This talk is now available, free of charge, from the Law Society’s AML support hub, for the benefit of all non-solicitor staff in a law firm.
Often the first point of contact for clients, legal secretaries, paralegals and executives play a key role within practices, receiving client identification documentation, or reminding clients to bring acceptable forms of identification with them to the first consultation and ensuring that this documentation is appropriately filed. Even at this early stage, potential concerns around lack of documentation can be flagged to the practice Money Laundering Reporting Officer. As such, the role of support staff in aiding solicitors to comply with their AML protocols and procedures is critical.
Your AML support
In addition to this talk, the Law Society also operates an AML helpline and online hub for solicitors requiring guidance with their AML obligations.
