Get the stats

The Law Society’s 2024 Annual Report is now available for the year ending 31 December 2024, and a report on the Audited Financial Statements. It provides insights into the organisation’s performance. You can read the Inhouse committee’s update of activities as well as the President’s report, top ten achievements, plus a wide range of interesting statistics about the profession.

Get a mentor

European Company Lawyers Association (ECLA) wants to hear from in-house solicitors in Ireland to participate in their Mentoring Project. Pairing senior and junior in-house lawyers across Europe - and different industries –  facilitates professional growth and introduces more diverse perspectives on the role of in-house counsel. Apply to be a mentor or mentee, by the deadline of 20 November.

A new KPMG report launched in October, commissioned by the Law Society and the Bar of Ireland, highlights Ireland’s legal sector’s impact on the economy.

All Law Society members are invited to join the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday, 13 November at 6.30pm. This is a hybrid event so you can attend in-person or  online.

The provisional results of the Law Society Council election for 2025 are now available, after a meeting of the scrutineers agreed their report. Congratulations to the 16 candidates elected in the national election, and both candidates in the Connacht and Munster provincial elections.

Are your details correct? As the Practising Certificate and membership renewal approaches, check your work and contact details at the Law Society are accurate. These details are also used for Find a Solicitor and the Law Directory.

Public sector possibilities

Solicitor Training Contracts in the Public Sector Symposium gives guidance on the benefits of employing trainee solicitors in their organisations. Find out what is required to establish a successful solicitor training programme. Hear from senior public sector legal practitioners on the successful solicitor training programmes that they are operating. Thursday, 20 November at 10am, The Education Centre, Blackhall Place.

Wellness works

Law Society Psychological Services welcomes solicitors and trainees to discuss new research on the Trainee Counselling Service, Wellbeing at the Foundation of the Legal Profession. It’s based on eight years of feedback from over 500 trainee solicitors. The event will show how early investment in mental health builds confident, resilient lawyers and so strengthens the profession. Wednesday, 19 November, from 6.30pm in Blackhall Place

Rock-solid resilience  

Law Society Skillnet is hosting a webinar  to help in-house counsel with the unique challenges thrown up by their roles. The live online event this Wednesday from 12.30pm to 1.30pm provides one-hour CPD for professional development and solicitor wellbeing.

Something to sing about

All are welcome to attend a Choral Concert in aid of Dublin Simon Community and the Hope Foundation, as part of the Law Society’s Calcutta Run initiatives. Award-winning choirs Dublin New Voices and St. Brigid’s National School Castleknock Choir are set to uplift hearts with their vibrant performances.
