Law Society Psychological Services  supports can help you with your workplace performance and wellbeing.

Enabling solicitors to thrive

Ensuring psychological wellbeing and having a healthy workplace culture are key to having a profession of high performing, self-aware lawyers. The Law Society offers several services for solicitors designed to support you in meeting the demands of legal practice.

Working with complex clients

Since it started over 12 months ago, almost 2,000 solicitors have attended the Law Society’s High Impact Performance series of webinars, featuring expert speakers discussing challenges, habits, and strategies to support high performing lawyers in often stressful environments. The next session on 11 July will focus on working with complex and vulnerable clients and hear from Melissa Rutherford, Director, Rutherford and Sheridan, Denise Kirwan, Partner, Comyn Kelleher Tobin, Paul Hughes, Psychotherapist, Pat Mullins, Partner O’Flynn Exhams and Fiona McNulty (Chair) Partner, Mason Hayes Curran.

Peer Support

We offer online and in person facilitated groups to help lawyers develop their psychological muscle, process the impact of their work, and to give and receive support from peers.

The Balint Peer Support Programme, in collaboration with Law Society Skillnet, is an online group of up to 12 solicitors, supported by its ambassador (and Law Firm Principal), Sonia Mc Entee. The Law Society’s Time to Think project, which launched in March 2024, is designed to support the leadership capabilities of senior lawyers over three workshops, who are practising and leading teams in a range of in-house environments. Participants will form an ongoing group to continue their support of each other and to engage in additional skills and leadership development.

If you are interested in participating in or establishing a peer support group, please contact solicitor services.

Culture First pilot and festival

The Law Society has been working with RDJ LLP to pilot Culture First: Well within the Law, creating a happier, high-performance workplace. If your legal workplace wants to partner with the Law Society to build a strong and healthy legal culture, contact solicitor services.
