Survey for Solicitors 2025

The Law Society is seeking feedback from practising solicitors through an online survey sent to you by our research partner Ipsos B&A Research and open until Friday 11 April.

solicitors working in various areas of practice

Your insights matter

We want to hear the diverse views of as many of you and your colleagues as possible, whether working in-house or in private practice, in the city or a regional area, starting your legal career or already have years of experience, so we can best support you.

Completion of the survey takes about 10 minutes and focuses on three areas:

  • the work on your desk and how that is changing,
  • challenges and opportunities in a changing legal landscape, and
  • how the Law Society can support and shape the changing nature of the profession.

An email with a unique survey link is being sent to practising solicitors from Law Society of Ireland Solicitor Research [info@bandasurvey.ie] on Monday 31 March/ Tuesday 1 April. All your contributions are confidential and anonymised.

Deadline

Please take the opportunity to share your views before the survey closes on 11 April and help the Law Society shape and embrace change to support solicitors and in the public interest.

What has the Law Society done for me?

Law-Society-Statement-of-Strategy.jpg

As you may recall, we conducted a solicitor survey in 2023 as part of a wide-ranging discovery and consultation process that helped inform the Law Society's strategic priorities for 2024-2028:

At that time, you highlighted what you needed as legal professionals – for example more assistance with cybercrime, regulation, succession planning and wellbeing - and we listened!

Some of the new and enhanced services we now offer in response to your requirements are listed below:

  • Cybersecurity: online CPD on demand, timely alerts on the latest threats, guidance for use in the office and a comprehensive Subject Guide of Library resources.
  • AI: Webinars and CPD workshops continue to run in 2025 plus the coming launch of a new online Technology information hub for solicitors.
  • Succession Planning: The Buy/Sell/Merge online facility has been updated and sessions on retirement and succession planning included in the 2025 CPD schedule.
  • Regulation: Regulation Answers brings together all regulation services in one location on lawsociety.ie and offers a dedicated phone and email helpline to help with queries, plus CPD webinars and talks on regulation topics of interest.
  • Wellbeing: As well as the subsidised counselling service LegalMind and popular online high impact professional webinars, we have been partnering with legal workplaces to improve workplace culture and creating new resources including a psychological safety toolkit.

A year into the 2024-2028 strategy, this survey is another opportunity for solicitors to send feedback on your challenges and opportunities, so the Law Society can further adapt to enable you to thrive at work and be successful at whatever stage you are at in your career.

Share your views by 11 April. If you have any queries, please contact solicitorservices@lawsociety.ie.
