Seminar on key London arbitration court

Law Society Skillnet is to hold an online seminar aimed at increasing practitioners’ knowledge of the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA).

This seminar will address the most important elements of practice and procedure of one of the foremost international arbitral institutions.

The Zoom event will take place on Tuesday 14 May (5pm-7pm) and is worth two hours general CPD by e-learning.

The aims of the seminar are to:

  • Further build upon the general context of institutional arbitration laid out in previous seminars in this series,
  • Deepen knowledge of the workings of a leading international arbitral institution often used by Irish parties or parties retaining Irish counsel, and
  • Allow attendees to use any lessons learned in the session in the future provision of services for clients involved in LCIA arbitrations.

Chair and speakers

Sean McCarthy BL,  who is an Irish barrister, a New York attorney, and an international-arbitration consultant, will chair the event.

The speakers are:

  • Jacomijn van Haersolte-van Hof (LCIA director general),
  • Eliana Tornese (LCIA registrar), and
  • Wing Shek (LCIA deputy registrar).

This seminar will take attendees through the most important elements of practice and procedure of the LCIA, while the speakers from the institution will describe the full life-cycle of an LCIA arbitration case.
