New tax counsel at Simmons & Simmons

International law firm Simmons & Simmons has announced the appointment of Brian Duffy as counsel in its tax team.

Duffy (pictured) joins from William Fry, where he spent more than 20 years advising domestic and multi-national corporations on complex tax matters and navigating tax regulations.

Simmons & Simmons says that he will be focused on issues linked to tax controversy, mergers and acquisitions tax, and property tax.

'Valuable asset'

Martin Phelan (partner and head of tax in Dublin) said that Duffy’s extensive knowledge and experience in tax law would be "a valuable asset" to the firm and its clients.

Simmons & Simmons has 1,650 staff working across 22 offices in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

Last year, the firm announced plans to move to a new Dublin office in May 2024.
