Lunchtime webinar on reducing cyber-risks

Law Society Professional Training is holding the third in a series of four lunchtime webinars on regulatory issues next month.

The live Zoom webinar on cyber-crime will take place on Wednesday 9 October (1pm to 2pm).

The event is worth one CPD hour (client care and professional standards) by e-learning and is open for registration.

The series began last week with a session on anti-money-laundering and continues on Wednesday with a webinar on managing client expectations.

The one-hour webinar on cyber-crime aims to outline recent trends in cyber-attacks and advise participants on ways to help reduce risks.

Raising awareness

It is suitable for solicitors, as well as colleagues involved in IT and financial management in a law firm.

Eamonn Maguire, the Law Society’s head of regulatory communications, will chair the event.

Participants will hear from Rory O'Neill, who is financial controller of the Law Society Compensation Fund.

Before his current role, O’Neill spent 14 years as an investigating accountant.

He has been consulted in relation to regulatory matters on State projects and is extensively involved in raising the profession’s awareness of cyber-crime and property fraud, and the risk they pose to practices.
